Take That Vacation!
Just some helpful tips for taking your next vacation!
- When traveling by plane, don't pack your toiletries. Buy them at your destination. If you do decide to pack them, be sure to follow the TSA's Regulations
- Be sure to pack your prescriptions, and other medications needed for your trip.
- If you're pregnant, get a copy of your medical records from your OB or Midwife. Have a list of available hospitals in the area that accept your insurance.
- For children with an illness, be sure to have information on their medical records as well as a list of doctors or hospitals that can see your child.
- Don't over pack clothes. If you're gone a week, pack enough for 3 or 4 days and do laundry
- Don't forget the diapers and baby wipes! Bring as many as you need to get to your destination and purchase the rest.
- Have games, and books for older children to enjoy!
- Pack snacks for everyone to avoid overspending at convenient stores.
- Leave your expensive jewelery at home. No need to bring something that has that much value on a family vacation.
- When leaving in the summer, keep your AC set to 85 degrees.
- Turn off your water heater! You may not think it can't happen, but a leak can occur.
- Set your house alarm.
- Stop your mail. To do this, go to the USPS site at https://holdmail.usps.com/duns/HoldMail.jsp and request that the post office holds your mail.
- Do the same with newspaper subscriptions as well.
- Have plenty of cash on hand. You never know when you might not be able to use an ATM.
